Dolores Claiborne's Story: Mother's StrengthDolores Claiborne’s Story: Mother’s Power 5 Minutes Dolores Claiborne is a Stephen King classic. This is the story of a mother who does not interfere with anything to revive hope in her daughter’s life.

Under a gray and melancholic sky, Stephen King unveiled another tangled tragedy with Dolores Claiborne. … Dolores Claiborne’s story has a lot to do with Gerald’s play, and according to some sources, it seems that they were originally meant to be part of the same novel, On the Path of Eclipse. Gerald’s play was first written, but it did not come out in film format until 2017.

Dolores Claiborne’s story is a horror story. but not supernatural. All elements of the film arise from everyday horrors such as alcoholism, violence, humiliation, dehumanization, exploitation and child abuse.

Dolores Claiborne (Katie Bates) was the caretaker of Vera Donovan (Judy Parfitt), a frail old woman who dies after falling down stairs. Investigator McKee (Christopher Plummer) is ready to prove Dolore’s guilt.

There are precedents in all of this. The investigator is also investigating the alleged death of Dolor’s husband (David Strathairn) in an accident. He is certain that she killed him almost twenty years earlier.

When Selena (Jennifer Jason Leigh) finds out that her mother has been arrested, she returns to her childhood home, which was the scene of many traumatic memories for both her and Dolores.

Plot story Dolores Claiborne

Dolores Claiborne has worked for Vera Donovan for over 20 years. Her job was not easy. For example, Vera demanded that she hang each sheet with six clothespins, not five, and always at the far end of the garden. She had to repeat this ritual all year round.

After Selena’s return, mother and daughter return to the family home. We see Selena smoking, drinking alcohol and taking pills to control her stress.

The new environment causes her great anxiety, and in turn, again feeds the disgust she has for her mother. She suspects that this feeling has something to do with the death of her father, when one afternoon after a total solar eclipse, he fell to meet his death in an abandoned well.

Total solar eclipse

While Selena helps her mother “in her own way”, Dolores helps her uncover memories of sexual abuse that her father subjected her to as a child … As a result of these abuses, as well as the theft of all of Selena’s college savings, we can conclude that Dolores did kill him.

Using a total solar eclipse that day, she devised the perfect plan so the police wouldn’t know it was her.

Now, twenty years later, the investigator who almost caught her then has returned to investigate Vera’s death. He is determined to put her there. He is close to retirement age and does not want to leave a single case unresolved.

Dolores, a mother who wants to protect her daughter

Dolores is a mother devoted to a cause she considers her happy daughter. But at the same time, she must acknowledge the fact that she does not have a natural ability to communicate this to her. In fact, when this emotional blockage becomes apparent, the story intensifies. She seems to have tried to cut all emotions out of her life in order to lessen the pain.

Father is someone we just do I can’t understand. He appears as a person who eliminates all emotions. His character is only disgusting and shows us that some people have not yet completed the humanization process. In the film, this character is really only present to help the viewer understand the relationship between mother and daughter and their subsequent behavior.

These women are underestimated every step of the way, and the power that they find often comes from their relationships with the women around them. The film focuses on this dynamic that many of us have experienced hundreds of times in real life.

So Dolores finally gets a chance to tell the truth about her daughter. Selena realizes her mother’s strength as she listens to her confession. Dolores has lost almost everything trying to protect her daughter from m supper that raped her.

This exercise in honesty makes Vera see herself in her mother and see that they are one and the same. They came to the same place to deal with all addiction and all pain.

Katie Bates is the perfect actress to play the woman that Dolores is. Bates’s performance is as harsh as it is tragic. Jennifer Jason Leigh is adept at dealing with Selene’s slow decline. The film is driven by Selena and Dolores’ disappointing relationship, highlighted by the tumultuous friendship between Vera and Dolores.

Vera’s role is also great. and a reminder that women find themselves in a variety of situations. All three women demonstrate a front of resistance to the world that has made them victims. But, as Vera notes, “sometimes being a regatta is all a woman needs to hold on to.

The film calls for another ending where Selena must accept their emotions. The audience needs a big, sentimental wave of emotion.

Instead, we get a constant atmosphere of coldness, a somewhat softened hint that the distance between mother and daughter has decreased slightly.

While not an emotionally satisfying goal, it is realistic. But this film is about the horrors of a family that leave an imprint on our hearts and emotions. Even if we preferred a different ending, what we got is realistic and sincere.
